A Saturday in Sydney

Not really a busy day today...

Slept in. (I think I'm finally starting to adjust to the time zone, now that I'm able to stay asleep past 6am.) Then Carla and I went to "The Rocks Market" around noon, on the opposite side of the Quay from the Opera House. It's an open-air market that runs on the weekends; really popular place for both native Australians and tourists, it seems, though there's probably more of the latter. Found tons of stuff that I want to take home with me, but I don't think I'll buy until it's closer to when I go home.

Followed up the market with a walk further into downtown Sydney. Carla wanted to go to Myer, a Nordstrom-like department store, to check out the huge sales they're having. Unfortunately, we both left empty-handed. We returned home so that Carla would have time to talk to her boyfriend in the States before he went to bed. I took a walk through the neighborhood for about an hour or so and then ended up at Coles, the grocery store. Still getting used to the labels, but found a few things. Got bored on the way home and decided to play around with the black and white feature on my digital camera, the results of which you can view at the top of this post.

After I got back we made a light dinner and now here I am at the computer. The Brady Bunch Movie is on TV here tonight, so I may go join Carla in a few minutes.

Hope everyone is well back in the States. Don't hesitate to send an e-mail or leave me a comment--I'd really love to hear from folks at home. Let me know what you think of the pics and tell me if the links are working. I PROMISE to e-mail you back. :)

Deb, have you seen the simpsons in which the family must go to Australia to make ammends for some prnk Bart played? I think it may be the only one I've ever watched with Tethany, they thought it was funny of course. Make sure to take note of the water spinning the opposite direction while draining from the sink. It's called the Coriolis Effect if I'm not mistaken.
