Happy Kyu-Shogatsu to everyone!

Today was Chinese New Year (known as Kyu-Shogatsu, or "old New Year" in Japanese). In celebration of the occasion, my coworker Char and I went to Japan's largest Chinatown to see the sights. Here's how we passed our time:

Photos:
  • Top left: the main street of Chinatown. I love how colorful it is.
  • Top right: We found a souvenir shop with some pretty awesome masks, and then decided to make fools of ourselves by documenting the experience with photos. (I'm the one on the left.)
  • Bottom left: the inside of one of the temples in Chinatown where people were coming to say their New Year's prayers.
  • Bottom right: One of the dragon costumes they use for some of the traditional activities as part of the New Year's celebration.
